Kristen M. Armstrong, J.D., Esq.
Elder Law, Estate Planning & Special Needs Attorney

A native of Hutchinson, attorney Kristen M. Armstrong, returned to Hutchinson after completing law school in 2016. Ms. Armstrong founded Generations Estate Planning & Elder Law, LLC in January 2024 after managing the Hutchinson office of a Kansas City-based elder law firm for 7 years.

Kristen’s passion for helping people, particularly seniors and those with disabilities, lead her to elder law. The most rewarding compliment she can receive is when an elderly client breathes a sigh of relief and exclaims, “I can finally sleep at night!” because their financial worries and legal problems have been resolved.

Kristen graduated from Hutchinson Community College and earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from Wichita State University, with an emphasis in criminal justice and gerontology. Kristen has 18+ years of probate and trust legal experience, working as a paralegal and law clerk before and during her time in law school. Kristen completed her law degree at University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law. During law school, Kristen served as the president of the UMKC Estates & Trusts Society and was inducted into Phi Delta Phi, a legal honor society.

Ms. Armstrong is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and Kansas NAELA. She serves on the education committee and as an executive committee member. Ms. Armstrong is active in the community, serving as a current board member for BrightHouse, and was appointed Commissioner on the City of Hutchinson Human Relations Commission in 2020. She previously served for three years on the Young Professionals of Reno County board and the Reno County Extension Board. Ms. Armstrong is active with the Reno County Bar Association, Kansas NAELA, and National NAELA (serving on the CLE & Special Needs Trusts Steering Committees). She was also a part-time instructor at Hutchinson Community College teaching in the paralegal studies department until May 2024.

Outside of work, Kristen and her husband, Stephen, enjoy spending time with their two children and dogs. They enjoy participating in local community and church events, watching their daughter’s sporting activities (lots of softball!), playing with her children, and reading.

Andrea Armstrong, Office Manager & Paralegal

Andrea Armstrong has been working with Kristen since the start of her time as an elder law attorney. Now serving in the roles of Office Manager and Paralegal, Andrea started as a receptionist and wore many hats! Andrea excels at attention paying attention to details, client management, and organization. She’s passionate about helping clients and is known for her empathetic approach.

Andrea holds a degree from Hutchinson Community College in small business management and has previous experience working in production and small business officers. Andrea is a great team player, and clients enjoy working with her as she is knowledgeable, kind-hearted, and sees things through.

As a proud mom, Andrea’s greatest joy is her college-aged daughter, who is studying in Los Angeles. She loves cheering her on from afar and can’t wait to see the amazing things she’ll achieve. In her free time, Andrea enjoys trivia nights, belting out her favorite tunes at karaoke, and socializing with friends. She’s also a creative at heart, expressing herself through jewelry-making and crafting unique pieces that reflect her personality.

With her unique blend of professionalism, kindness, and creativity, Andrea wants to make a positive impact in all aspects of her life.

Erica Jones, Pralegal

Erica is a paralegal at Generations Elder Law & Estate Planning, LLC. She started working with Kristen nearly 6 years ago as an office receptionist. Her experience working in the legal field has helped to develop a passion for helping clients through the complexities of long-term care planning and estate planning. She strives to ensure that our clients receive compassionate and meticulous service. Prior to her professional career, Erica devoted herself to being a full-time mom and military spouse while volunteering in various groups for military families.

In addition to her professional and familial roles, Erica spends her down time volunteering with a number of different organizations, including Convoy of Hope, volunteering as a youth leader at her church, where she guides and mentors teenagers, and other non-profits around Hutchinson and spending time with her children and spouse. Her life experience, together with the knowledge gained in her field and her passion to serve, allow her to bring only the best service to Generations and our clients.

Heather Hutchinson, Executive Legal Assistant

Heather started with Kristen as an Executive Legal Assistant in December 2023. She brings years of experience in busy office settings, having worked previously at the Reno County District Attorney’s office and a local elementary school.

A former student to of Kristen’s, Ms. Hutchinson is a tremendous asset to Generations, bringing a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and is dedicated to seeing things through. Heather is on the verge of completing her course studies to obtain an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Paralegal Studies, Heather’s commitment to professional growth is evident in her dedication to furthering her education while excelling in her career. A true team player, who enjoys learning all aspects of the job and has the initiative to get the work done.

Outside of work, Heather enjoys sword fights, wrestling, and foot races with her five-year-old son, Oliver. He is truly her greatest achievement. Heather is also happily engaged to Brian Koch. Time with her guys, music, and reading are Heather’s favorite things.
